Is the time right?

I feeling like I am hiding out here. I wonder how many people have read my last three posts. I think you can do comments without having a login. If not, let me know. I don’t want to have to manage two sets of logins (one for my blog and one for Heidi’s), but I haven’t figured out how to finnagle that.

I added a photo gallery. I’m putting some photos up on it right now to try it out. I can’t seem to get the photos to show up. Blah. Wow I just had a crazy deja vu moment. Weird. Anyway, I may have a lot of time to work on this if Heidi will be as busy as it sounds, so may expect so big changes and I’ll try not let you down… while I will if nothing better comes along.
Crap… I really need to add a spellcheck plugin into this blog thing. I think I may have misspelled some words. Now where can I find wordpress plugins…

We’ve posted the pictures we took from our trip down to D.C.  Feel free to check them out.

On a side note, I’m thinking of using zenphoto to display our photos. [Demo Gallery]  Anyone know of any other ‘good’ and ‘free’ photo gallery software (php based)?

Alrighty, so it looks like I have this thing ‘working’… at least well enough that I can write stuff and you can read it. I’ve not used this backend before but I do like that fact that I can resize the text window (but I don’t like that editing the HTML requires you to open up a new window). I think I just need to get used to it. Things I did last night (all while drinking beer!):

• Figured out how to put includes on all blog pages.
• Added a second blog for Heidi (it’s not been played with yet).
• Added navigation bar to the left side of each page on this site (using an include).
• Imported all my old posts from blogger (with comments).
• Imported all my old posts from eponym (without comments… using RSS feed).
• Watched some bad cop dramas.

What I need/want to work on (there is still a lot to do ):

• Import Heidi’s posts.
• Find a better template to use until I can make my own (look here and find one for me please).
• Work with Heidi to get the look she wants.
• Improve navigation bar.
• Add things to front page.
• Get mail server up and running so that I can send out notifications and such when posts/comments are posted.
• Make is so that people can actually comment on this thing (user logins).

Another long interval between posts. I should be getting better at this by now.

This weekend was very fun. Jefe, Heidi and I went down to D.C. to visit Ack and much fun was had by all (though Jefe forgot his DS). Maybe I’ll give you more detail tonight but right now I’m in a productive mood so I’ll not waste works time, but I will let you know that I according to this neat-o tool we walked almost 8 miles on Saturday.

As for the other site, I’ve install wordpress and imported all my posts from blogger (with comments, woot!). Now I just need to get them from this site and work on the look. I’m going to also setup Heidi with one as here bandwidth usages is creeping closer and closer to 100Mb. Maybe we can share? Anyway, I’ll probably end up using someone else template for a while until I can make something that I like.

Also, I may end up bothering you, Nikkiana, as your site has a very nice look. Did you do your own graphics?

As no one can read this right now. Isn’t 100Mb a month a little meager? Well I guess that’s why on want to setup something else and start posting there. Of course now I just have to figure out how to transfer my old posts over there, setup user logins, define a way to create new accounts, post ads (thank you google… now what is my adsense password?), create a new CSS and other such junk. I’ll try to work on that tonight. On a side note, I’m playing around with using del.icio.us to keep track of my bookmarks (and using direc.tor to actually look at them. Web2.0 is cool). I’ll probably try and add a way to make these links publicly available. There is so much I can play around with on the new site! Now I just have to find the time… perhaps tonight?

To clarify a hockey rule, the post is not in the net. Sigh.

Stupid. Okay so check out the ‘Top Eponym Blogs’ section on Eponym.com. I’m not sure how they generate the list (how can this be a ‘Top Blog’? It only has one post!) but it looks like I’m a cool kid. Ragh! I’m hungry.

Also, this is mildly (not really) funny. You should read the first bit at least.

If you have time (I don’t) read this article on the 2004 election. It is a wonder that so many voters feel disenfranchised?

So to give you an update on the bandwidth usage for this month. I am now at..

That is out of 100Mbs. Crap. I guess that means I need to make a decision in the next nine days. Stupid emoticon?!

So apparently people are reading this thing a lot, which is kind of sad since I haven’t really written much lately. It turns out that eponym has a bandwidth limitation of 100Mb per month. If you reach that point you have to pay them money or your site goes bye-bye (til the end of the month). I was at 85Mb yesterday and I’m now at 95Mb so you may end up not seeing this a bit. I may end up paying the money as this is a hobby of mine (if you can call it that). Also if you want to help start using RSS feeds to check to see if I’ve posted. They use up a lot less bandwidth and end up being easier for you as you don’t have to keep checking the page. Google and Microsoft have them built into their ‘homepage’ things. All you have to do is sign up for their free email service. (There is also this thing but I don’t really like it.) I’m currently trying to build and create an install for a set of programs I (and others) made. I’m typing this between crashes… awesome!

I’m looking forward to this weekend. There is the Redhook race where the first 100 finishers get a beer (that’s a lie, everyone does). Then there is the nothing, the eating, the drinking, the hockeying (?), flogging (if the course is no longer part of the Bellamy), and (most exciting of all) the no working. Ha! Unfortunately, Eric will be leaving next week so we are going to try and send him away happy hoping he’ll never come back not sad? We’ll take donations.

Okay so the name I randomly assigned to myself back in High School (see title) is a reference to something. Apparently, Zippy the Chimp or Monkey was on Howdy Doody. Now I am sometimes asked ‘why ZipyMonkey?’ Well, I had two criteria: (1) I wanted a name that started with a ‘Z’, and (2) I wanted a name with ‘Monkey’. But am I now required to change my pseudonym?! My name only has one ‘p’, and I am a monkey not an ape (no comments from the peanut gallery, please… ha! a Howdy Doody reference!). Beside, Zippy was, as far as I can tell, one of the few living members of the Howdy Doody cast. I’ll not be changing anytime soon.

Also, it is good to know that monkey’s enjoy imbibing the sauce.
