You are looking for something completely different. The iPhone is targeting the business market and is looking to compete directly with smart phones. You are looking for something you can use for outdoor sports (kayaking, biking, running, e&c.).

I'm not sure why you would want to hook this up to a projector for powerpoint. You can just email the powerpoint to the person with the computer. Also, I'd be surprised if it doesn't play YouTube videos, the thing will play videos you download from iTunes and they have been working with google to make sure the search stuff works and google owns YouTube...

As for the multi-point touch screen. Apple bought the company that made it so in a way they did 'invent' it, and they definitely did some development for it.

I was reading the live updates of that announcement and i was psyched at first, and then became more and more disappointed.
what i want for real is a completely sealed mp3 player with no buttons, no wires, and no i/o. i want it to be waterproof, touch screen, chargeable without a cord (put it on the mat), wireless headphones, and wireless data transfer. is that too much to ask? are they on their way to developing such a thing?

There is speculation whether the phone will be locked to work only with Cingular. I think Apple is pushing to have the phone unlocked, but it will be more expensive to buy. the cingular service is only what gets it the discount. did i mention that i can't stand cingular/at&t. they are the most unreasonable service out there and they don't care about satisfying their customers very well.

the thing should have an output so you can attach it to a projector for powerpoint. it can probably be done with the ipod connector anyways.

notice they didn't use the internet with any other popular sites. how would it handle embedded videos? probably be a lot of red x's and support issues.

one promising thing is that you could potentially listen to any internet radio station at any time.

the way jobs was speaking was that they invented and developed multi-touch technology when i'm pretty sure they didn't. the guy in that video i linked to a while back certainly wasn't branded by apple.

anyways. given the price they want, i'll wait it out to see if it actually works.
