In fact the army does have several intensive language learning programs that WILL teach you how to say interesting things about geopolitical structuring, and how the latest world incident will have an impact on YOUR daily life, but WONT teach you usefull phrases like “what is this crap that I’m eating?”, or “what’s wrong with your face?!?!?”..

hah….I’m uh…back…and no, no I won’t be coming home for thanksgiving. But maybe we can have a reunion tour around fir tree day

I’ve yet to learn a language. Grunting works real well along with rude hand motions.

Why are you all of a sudden in more of a position to jobhunt? Have you delegated everything off to your cronies? I used to jobhunt at work and then a couple days later my boss would always pull me aside and promise to send me to Japan soon. Sneaky bastard ..

As for the Audio CD thing, they only work if you actually listen to them, which is hard to bring yourself to do if you like music, since if you have the time to listen to something shouldn`t it be something like the new Reverend Glasseye album instead?

I agree that group interactions are the best way to learn, but that`s not always readily available, is it .. I say just watch a bunch of movies with the subtitles off. Or, turn the subtitles on and the sound off, depending on which way you`re swinging. Swing!

Audio CDs assist, but you shant learn that way alone. You have to write and read, in my opinion, and of course, if you don’t use it, you lose it.

Small group interactions with native speakers are the best.

Which language youse looking at? German? Espanglish? or something besides them?

I hear the Army has some good intensive programs for learning things like Arabic, Chinese, and Korean.
